Certification Maintenance Program (CMP) will be going ONLINE soon at RID's website. The Certification Maintenance Program (CMP) is continually developing ways to make the CMP more accurate and easier to use. A recent major enhancement is our new online transcript database. Instead of waiting for annual transcripts by mail, members can go online to review their CMP records at anytime. With the development of the online transcripts, official transcripts will no longer be sent out to Certified and ACET members automatically.. Members will still be entitled to one free paper official transcript annually, but must request a copy from the CMP department at the national office. You will be able to request that transcript anytime during the fiscal year. Once you have received one official transcript for the fiscal year, any additional transcript will require a fee of $10. The online transcript will enable
members to notify the CMP department of any discrepancies in a more timely
manner. Please note that upon completion of an activity, it can take up
to 60 days for the event to appear on your transcript.. If it has been
more than 60 days, and the activity still does not appear on your online
transcript, you should contact the approving sponsor,
You can review your online transcript on the web site (www.rid.org), under “Searchable Databases.” This is a secure database that is password protected for your privacy. You will need to have your RID membership number to access your record.
Greetings to all Deaf School Terps! Interpreters who work in schools for the Deaf are invited to join in a discussion of our mutual interests and concerns. You can join a live discussion at the RID conference and/or a virtual discussion through a new email group. Hopefully these opportunities will be good ways for us to network and share ideas. Interpreters who work full-time, part-time, or on contract at Deaf schools are all welcome to join the discussion. The live discussion...There will be an informal gathering of Deaf school interpreters at the RID Conference in Chicago this July. Join us to meet interpreters at other Deaf schools on Tuesday, July 29th in the Ohio Room of the Sheraton at 5:00pm. The location is tentative - check the Daily VIEWS publication at the conference for any update in the location. The virtual discussion...You can
join the Deaf School Terps email group. Members can send messages to the
group to share ideas and solicit suggestions for interpreters at other
Deaf schools. You can join the email group by sending a blank email
to deafschoolterps-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
Please share this message with anyone you know who interprets at schools for the Deaf! If you have any ideas or suggestions regarding these discussions, please let me know. Thanks!
OFFICIAL MESSAGE TO NAD INTERPRETERS The NAD National Interpreter Certification (NAD NIC) website has been updated - click: http://www.nad.org/NIC.html. My most recent official letter is on the main page. It explains the agreement between NAD and RID on behalf of NAD certified interpreters. Look also at the topic areas on the NAD NIC website. Please become familiar with our NAD NIC program so that you are able to answer basic questions whenever asked. Important points: 1) The NAD continues to support – very strongly – the professional development and certification maintenance needs of all interpreters who hold NAD Level III, IV and V certification. 2) To remain certified, NAD Level III, IV and V interpreters must send in the special NAD/RID Special Membership Application Form (on the NAD NIC website and on the RID website as well) with payment to RID anytime between now and June 30, 2004. This includes active status in both the NAD and RID and certification continuance until June 30, 2004 (annual renewal is required thereafter). 3) In addition to 2) above, NAD Level III, IV and V interpreters must also satisfy the requirements of the RID Certification Maintenance Program (as required by the NAD). 4) A new online, searchable database for the NAD NIC website is now being developed – which will be a wonderful resource for interpreters and consumers alike. Until this is ready, we encourage NAD interpreters to fill out the NAD Interpreter Info Form on the NAD NIC website and fax their completed form to the NAD. Please help spread the word about the NAD NIC in your home state & communities! Thank you. Nancy J. Bloch
